“I am privileged and proud to be patron of the Breast Cancer Desert Multimarathon. All my life I have been an endurance athlete and someone who welcomes challenges, confident of conquering anything and everything. But after recently seeing Kerryn McCann lose her battle with breast cancer - someone who I had known, run against, shared experiences and formed a friendship with over more than 20 years, it made me realise how vulnerable we all are – even the fittest of athletes and finest of people. We must live for the moment and do whatever we can to make a difference in this world. Life is full of challenges and what better way to acknowledge and empathise with the incredible challenge and endurance required to fight cancer, than by taking on the positive challenge of such an extreme endurance event. Barry, Ronan, Jasper, Toby and Chris are challenging themselves to endure this event so they can help others meet and beat the challenge of breast cancer. I feel honoured to be involved in this epic run for such a worthwhile cause. I hope many others will get behind and support it as well.”
